Returning to Dolores Kendrick

A generative writing poetry workshop honoring DC’s second poet laureate Dolores Kendrick, led by award-winning poet María Fernanda. We will read poems from her published works Through the Ceiling, The Women of Plums, and Why the Woman is Singing on the Corner. This experience will includes works by contemporaries of Kendrick’s who celebrated her work and by several poets who lived in DC at the same time.

This two hour workshop is part of María Fernanda discounted workshops to provide greater access to poetry that is either out of print or only publicly, in this case not-for-purchase, available at your local library’s reference section. While this workshop is typically $30 - $50, María Fernanda is offering this workshop with the request of one of the following:

Why GoFundMe?

The contribution on GoFundMe allows María Fernanda raise funds for her screenplay and has continued to be used successfully by participants of María Fernanda's ongoing discounted poetry workshops beginning August 1, 2025 as part of raising these funds.
